Canon Unveils Their First Compact Camera Featuring Bluetooth Connectivity, The G9 X Mark II

During the Consumer Electronics Show, Canon has unveiled the G9 X Mark II. The compact camera will feature updates over a popular compact camera of the company. The updates include enhanced speed and connectivity. Canon Powershot G9 X Mark II will feature Bluetooth connectivity which will help in transferring the photographs and videos in other devices. And with this feature added to this new compact camera, it also becomes the first compact camera of the company to have Bluetooth connectivity.

The Canon Powershot G9 X Mark II also uses a 20 megapixel one inch sensor with an f/2-f/4.9 lens. This is just like the one in the predecessor of G9 X Mark II. However, the latest camera uses a DIGIC 7 processor. This change allows the new updated camera for improved autofocus tracking and auto scene recognition. And the added features making the latest camera a smarter one has been named adding ‘Mark II’ at the tail.

The processor allows the G9 X Mark II for a speed jump. The latest camera features continuous autofocus and hits 5.3 fps or 8.1. The predecessor hit 4.3 fps or 6fps with the focus locked on the first time. The 5.3 fps speed will keep up for 102 shots while the fastest speed continues for 38 photos. However, the camera is capable of hitting only 21 shots at the fastest speed and 27 shots at 4 fps both locking focus after first shot, in RAW.

The addition of Bluetooth connectivity has been something captivating. Enhanced speed and the addition of the connectivity feature have boosted G9 X Mark II. This added connectivity allows the camera to wirelessly transfer files to various other devices that are compatible. And this mode of transfer consumes less energy than Wi-Fi. With this decrement in the energy consumption, the cameras battery life also improves. And comparing to 220 shots, the latest camera will have battery capacity for 235 shots. With the addition of Bluetooth connectivity, G9 X Mark II becomes Canon’s first PowerShot compact to offer the feature.

The latest camera doesn’t have much to offer though. Other than slight improvement and extra boost in speed and some features, the experience is likely to remain same. And the addition of “Mark II” could be overwhelming for those expecting for major updates. Other than Bluetooth connectivity and the processor, other features appear same. The camera has 1080p HD video. It is wrapped up in a lightweight, 7.47 – ounce body, with a fixed LCD screen and there is no viewfinder.
